Top Ten Books for Readers Who Like Character Driven Novels.

Monday, October 6, 2014

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by the lovely ladies over at The Broke and the Bookish. Today we are talking about character driven novels! This was hard for me, because I wanted to pick books that weren't too terribly cliche (because let's face it, Harry Potter is going to show up on many a list). These are books that have left an impression on me, or characters that I truly fell in love with as I watched them grow and change.

2. Candence in We Were Liars

4. Miles and Alaska in Looking for Alaska

5. Mia in If I Stay

6. Nobody "Bod" Owens in The Graveyard Book

7. Tate and Miles in Ugly Love

8. Cath in Fangirl

9. Liesel in The Book Thief

10. "A" in Every Day

What are some of your favorite character driven novels? What makes them stand out to you? Let me know!

  1. I've seen The Perks of Being a Wallflower on a few lists today, too. I might like to read that one someday.

I guess Every Day is sort of character driven... though I wasn't crazy about the characters, so maybe that's why I didn't put it on my list. Same thing goes for If I Stay. I really should read The Graveyard Book, though; I read a short story about the characters (it was in a compilation called M is for Magic), and I really enjoyed it).

None of my choices overlap with yours... though I suspect that if I had read The Book Thief, it probably would have made my list!

    1. I really loved If I Stay. I think I picked these books because the characters really resonated with me, rather than considered them being "strong". (So I cheated a bit) Oh well! :P
