If We Were Having Coffee [2]

If we were having coffee... I would tell you that I'm very happy with where I am in life. Last time I wrote a post like this, I was very disappointed in life, in people, in circumstances, in my job... everything, but I am in a much better place now. I'm not in the job I was before. I'm back in school, finally pursuing the Masters degree I wanted for so long. Something about school puts me at ease and challenges my mind. Yes, it's stressful, but it's sooooo worth it.

I would ask you... How do you feel about where you are in life?

If we were having coffee... I would tell you how excited I am about my blog! I feel like the new layout I got represents a different chapter that is going to be all my own! It will only ever have my name on it. I'm sole owner, and I can do whatever I want. I don't have to ask my co-blogger or anything. It's very freeing. I'm also finally in a place where I'm happy with everything that is on my blog. Over the past couple of months, I have gone through all of my posts and have cleaned out a lot of the ones that I either didn't like or didn't want on my blog... then somehow ended up losing a month an a half of discussion posts on accident -bummer. Anyway, I'm super proud of my blog, and I'm really excited about what this next year has in store.

I would ask you... Do you blog? What do you like most about the content your are posting?

If we were having coffee... I would tell you that I have just recently moved to a new town. I moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in August for school, and though there have been some crazy and not so good things that has happened this past semester, the good totally outweighs the bad. I have actually made Edmond my home, and it's been a long time since I've felt like a place is truly my home. I have made a lot of really great friends, Becca from Pivot Book Reviews to name one. And I began volunteering with teenagers again. It's been a couple years since I've intentionally hung out with teens in a mentoring fashion, and now that I'm doing that again through my church, I have fallen in love with it all over again. It's such a great feeling working with people and working with teenagers again.

I would ask you... Have you ever moved to a different city and had to start over? Was it difficult for you? Do you volunteer?

If we were having coffee... I would tell you that for my New Years resolution in 2014, I promised myself I would travel more in the United States since I'm not going out of the country much anymore. In 2014, I moved to a different state (Texas to Oklahoma), I visited Washington DC for a week, I visited California for a little more than a week. The big trips were visiting family, but I loved every minute. There's just something about taking trips without your entire immediate family dragging you along on a road trip. I decided that in 2015, my resolution will be the same. I want to travel more in the US, and I already have one trip in the books: BEA! WHOOOOPPPP!!! I'm so excited!

I would ask you... Have you done much traveling out of state or country? Do you enjoy it? Are you going to BEA?

If we were having coffee... I would tell you how many new authors I have discovered in the past year of blogging. I have more than doubled (nearly tripled) my annual reading goal, and with that I have discovered so many books and stories I wouldn't have found if not for blogging. Part of me wonders what treasures I have lost because I haven't been blogging for the past several years.

I would ask you... What have been your favorite reads since you became a blogger or active reader? Do you feel like you would have found them if you weren't a part of this reading/blogging community?

So tell me... if we were having coffee, what would you say? Or what would your answers be?

  1. This is such a cool style post! I loved hearing about your life, and I really love the mugs in the picture! I am excited for you and all your newfound success! Right now I am pretty happy, a bit stressed and disappointed. I am doing so much that I feel that I can't do it as well as I'd like. I have not had much time for blogging which makes me particularly sad, but I feel like when I get soem real time on my hands and the semester ends I can restart everything and maybe get back on track some more. I am so jealous that you are going to BEA! That's a dream come true and I hope to hear all kinds of stories about it!

I tagged you in the "20 things you might not know about me" tag if you get a spare moment or feel like it! :)

    1. Briana, I totally understand stress. Classes hit this past week, and I will be MUCH busier than I anticipated. I even applied for a job (which I hope I get, no news yet though). When I get into those situations, I just do what I can when I can. This semester, blogging may have to go on the back burner for me, though I really don't want it to. My classes have to come from first. Same with you. You just need to prioritize and hopefully doing that will help you organize your time better!! Thanks for the tag! I'll see if I can get around to it! :)

  2. This is totally the coolest post idea. I would steal it but then, if I was actually legitimately having coffee, I would just be eating it and thinking about cake and not making much conversation at all. #yesihaveproblems

I SO wish Australia had BEA. We have a sort of version, but as far as I know there are no free books. -_- And I don't live anywhere near it anyway...

I HAVE moved a lot. In fact, we move every 5 to 6 years, which does make settling down and making lots of friends super hard. I don't make friends easily....which is why I like the internet. I can have TONS of friends and I don't lose them when we move. ;-)

    1. Girl, I totally feel your pain when it comes to moving. It sucks doesn't it? In the past 6.5 years I have moved 7 times and it has nearly killed me. This place where I am now is the first place I've truly felt like I can put down roots and stay for a lot longer than I thought.
Since you don't have BEA in Australia, that just means you need to come visit all us awesome people in the US and we can all have a blast. You know what's probably really funny, you know people from all over US and Canada from blogging and it could be a huge trip for you once you get here. All you would have to do is take a train from one end of the country to the other and that would be über fun!!! Don't you think?! :D

  3. Ooh this is such a fun post idea! BTW--loving those mugs you have in that picture there :D I have recently gotten this mug obsession and now I have wayyyyy to many mugs whoops.

Uh, we don't really move around much. Like yeah, when I was 1 we moved from China to Australia but since then, we've only moved once and I've been in the same place for about...10 years now? WOAH that is actually kinda crazy to think about O_O

Ooh and have fun at BEA! I've always wanted to go but us Aussies are pretty much on the other side of the world <.<

Gorgeous blog by the way :D

    1. Thank you!!! I am totally obsessed with mugs!! It's like my favorite thing haha! I wish Australia could be closer! i love you Aussie bloggers!!!

  4. So glad you are happy with your blog! I love your design. I recently had my blog redesigned by Stephanie too and it makes me happy every time I look at it. Have a great time at BEA -- I would love to go but I think work is going to interfere. (The weekend schedule was better for me, but oh well.) Regarding your other questions, I moved two years ago and I hope not to have to do that again any time soon, although it is a great excuse to go through and purge your stuff (including books, sob).

    1. Ah I love your blog! And your layout is GORGEOUS!!!

Yeah, I can't tell you how much stuff I get rid of every time I move. It's a good thing honestly, because everything I have (including furniture) can be put in the smallest sized U-Haul trailer; it's kinda nice. Thanks for stopping by!! :)
