1. Best book you read in 2015?
I read so many good books this year I have to break this down by genre:
Historical Fiction: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
Fantasy: Queen of Shadows (almost tied with ACOTAR) by Sarah J. Maas
Contemporary: Noggin by John Corey Whaley
Science Fiction: Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

2. Book you were excited about and thought you were going to love more but didn't?
The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker. I found it so disappointing. The premise was good and there was so much room for greatness, but it just wasn't there.

3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read in 2015?
Sula by Toni Morrison. I hate to say it. The feminist in me hates this, but I just couldn't stand this book. Apparently she's the goddess of feminist literature, but I just couldn't stand it. I'm hoping that I will feel differently when I read Beloved, but Sula just didn't do it for me, and it completely took me by surprise.

4. Book you "pushed" the most people to read (and the did) in 2015?
Because this year I began working at Barnes & Noble, I have been pushing Throne of Glass like a mad woman! I have pushed it into everyone's hands (and most have bought it). I have almost sold 100 at my store since June.

5. Best series you started in 2015? Best sequel of 2015? Best series Ender of 2015?
Best series I starter: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Best Sequel: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Best Series Ender: Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi

6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2015?
I've discovered so many new favorites, I can't just list one. So I'll give a few. Tahereh Mafi, Amie Kaufman, Elizabeth Kostova, and John Corey Whaley.

7 Best book from a genre you don't typically read/was out of your comfort zone?
I generally don't read a lot of adult fiction. I read it from time to time, and I definitely have to read it for class, but it's not a category that comes easy to me. But my life changed when I read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. Seriously phenomenal.

8. Most action-packed/thriller/unputdownable book of the year?
Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. I read that entire beast of a book in one sitting. I started it at midnight the night it came out and didn't finish it until 11am the next morning. One all-nighter for this beauty of a book.

9. Book you read in 2015 that you are most likely to re-read next year?
All of Sarah J. Maas's books, and probably the Shatter Me trilogy.

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2015?
Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

11. Most memorable character of 2015?
Rhysand from ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas,
Gideon from Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

12. Most beautifully written book read in 2015?
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh

13. Most thought-provoking /life-changing book of 2015?
Woman at Point Zero by Nawaal El Saadawi. This book shook me up in its 114 pages. It was one of the shortest books I read this year, but it was the most thought-provoking and gut-wrenching books I've ever come across.

14. Book you can't believe you waiting UNTIL 2015 to finally read?
The Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi. How in the world did I wait this long?

15. Favorite passage/quote from a book you read in 2015?
"We do not start as dust. We do not end as dust. We make more than dust.
That's what we ask of you, make more than dust."
-David Levithan

16. Shortest and longest book you read in 2015?
Shortest: The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman, Illustrated by Chris Riddell
Longest: The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

17. Book that shocked you the most
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. This was a rough read, but there were just some things in it that shocked me.

18. OTP of the year (you will go down with this ship!)
Juliette and Warner (from Shatter Me). But I have so many more ships like Feyre and Rhys, Aelin and Rowan, Inej and Kaz, Margarite and Paul, Arin and Kestrel... I mean this list goes on..... This is too difficult a question.

19. Favorite non-romantic relationship of the year
Jubilee Chase and Tarver Merendsen. I love their friendship. They know the other like the back of their hand, and to see them interact and come together in Their Fractured Light was an absolute delight!

20. Favorite book you read in 2015 from an author you've read previously
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. It was so much more than I could have ever wanted from her. I thought it was better than the Grisha trilogy and I LOVE that series.

21. Best book you read in 2015 that you read based SOLELY on a recommendation from somebody else/peer pressure:
Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I had the opportunity to get an ARC of it on multiple occasions, but I kept on putting it off besides the fact that it was touted as one of the best books of the new year. I ended up winning a hardcover of it, so I read it then and I enjoyed it. But that was one of the only books I read based solely on reviews or book pushing.

22. Newest fictional crush from a book you read in 2015?
Rhys and Feyre from ACOTAR. I mean.. How can you not?

23. Best 2015 debut you read?
The Wrath and the Dawn by Reneé Ahdieh. SO GOOD! It was one of the most beautifully written books I read in the YA category this year.

24. Best world building/most vivid setting you read this year?
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. I loved how different each world was, and honestly I think listening to the audiobook helped even more with it because the narrator read in superb accents!

25. Book that put a smile on your face/was the most FUN to read?
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling. I enjoyed that book so incredibly much. I laughed and grinned, and I'm sure my roommate thought I was going to crazy because I adored it so much.

26. Book that made you cry or nearly cry in 2015?
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. I'm sure you knew the point that I cried... oh I was so sad for my baby Tarver.

27. Hidden gem of the year?
The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson. It was beautiful and everything you could ever want in a second installment in the series. I adored it and was so happy when I got an ARC of it. It's beautiful!

28. Book that crushed your soul?
Noggin by John Corey Whaley. It was a fantastic book to start the year off with and it really touched on some hard life lessons that reminded me of what it was to be young... or to be honest, what it is to be alive.

29. Most unique book you read in 2015?
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. The format itself is enough to win the most unique book award for life!

30. Book that made you the most mad (doesn't necessarily mean you didn't like it)?
The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkoski. I was just frustrated by Arin and Kestrel, but don't get me wrong... I loved it the entire time!

1. New favorite book blog you discovered in 2015?
I really haven't done much blog hunting lately... I've only just gotten back into it the last month since going on hiatus over the summer.

2. Favorite review that you wrote in 2015?
Queen of Shadows by SJM. It's easily my favorite, because I just gush the entire time, and it was GLORIOUS! Here's the review!

3. Best discussion/non-review post you had on your blog?
My favorite discussion post:
Comments for Comments
Most popular: You Read YA Lit?

4. Best event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, memes, etc.)?
5. Best moment of bookish/blogging life in 2015?
When I got to meet D.J. MacHale. He wrote the Pendragon series that I read when I was in middle school. He came to the NTTBFest and I was in line with a whole bunch of middle school boys with my ratty first edition copy of the Merchant of Death. He was so surprised because he said it had been years since he had seen one at a signing since the 10 book series ended 6 years ago. It was kinda my favorite book experience ever.

6. Most popular post this year on your blog (whether it be by comments or views)?
7. Post you wished got a little more love?
I really don't know, but I wish my wrap up posts got a bit more love in general.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, because I can't believe it has taken me so long to get to this book.

2. Book you are most anticipating for 2016 (non-debut)?
Oh gosh, there are too many! A Court of Mist and Fury, ToG 5, Truthwitch, Passenger... there are too many.

Throne of Glass #5 by Sarah J. Maas
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

5. One thing you hope to accomplish or do in your reading/blogging life in 2016?
Just be more relaxed and maybe even write a few more posts that blend my bookish YA interests with my academic interests.

6. A 2016 release you've already read and recommend to everyone:
Eekk... I haven't read any yet... I really gotta start working on it.

    1. Isn't The Wrath and the Dawn perfect? I can't wait for the next one!!! Oh, yes! You MUST read Throne of Glass! But give it at least two books. For someone reason, the first book doesn't work for everyone, but everything gets even better in the second novel. :)

    1. Shatter Me is so good right?! I have so much love for that book!

  5. You will hate Beloved as much as the other Toni Morrison book. It will make you so mad.

    1. I don't Sula made me more apathetic than anything, so I feel like I would rather be angry than apathetic, but yeah I just don't think I like her work...

  6. I think my top reads were Uprooted and Flowers for Algernon in 2015.

    1. Oh I read Flowers for Algernon when I was in grade school and really enjoyed that!
