Activities
Based in the world famously beautiful Trossachs area of Scotland outdoor activities here are plentiful!
Perhaps the most obvious is the fantastic hill walking and rambling to be had. Whatever your level of fitness and experience there is such a variety of walks here you’ll be able to find something just right. The Inn is surrounded by forest with lochs like Lomond and Katrine a comfortable drive away and munros like Ben Vorlich and Ben More very accessible. We’re also sat on the famous Rob Roy Way, a network of paths and tracks used by the MacGregor clan to move around the country taking in many stunning views.
Sports activities are incredibly numerous with watersports well represented in an area of 11 lochs and two major rivers. Some of the most popular activities around the area include:
- Fishing
- Boating and sailing
- Canoeing, kayaking and rafting
- Water-skiing
- Windsurfing
- Cycling (route 7 of the national cycle network)
- Golf (five different courses nearby)
- Hillracing & hillwalking
Wildlife watching is a wonderfully peaceful activity, birdlife being particularly rich from spots like 13th Century Inchmahome Priory with it’s grebe, goldeneye, tufted duck, mallards, geese, heron and swans to the Ardgaty red kite feeding station. At different times of year you can also spot osprey, golden eagles, seals, porpoise, red deer, fallow deer, water voles and red squirrels with a few people even claiming to have spotted that most elusive and charismatic British creature the Scottish wildcat!
Our location central to many of Scotland’s best tourism attractions opens up everything to be found in Glasgow and Edinburgh from the castle to the festival to the heritage, ancient buildings and even more transport links taking you further into the Highlands or out towards the wild west coast and islands.
We feel blessed to live here and we’re sure you will too when you come and stay; contact us today to check availability or make and booking.
