OS&B Turns One! Blogoversary Extravaganza Tag +GIVEAWAYS

Thursday, December 25, 2014

First off Merry Christmas! I hope your day has been wonderful and that you got a lot of presents and books. Yes, LOTS and LOTS of books! But I'd like to also celebrate with you guys today because...

Of Spectacles and Books has officially turned one!

First off, yes, I actually did launch on Christmas day in 2013. What was I thinking? I have no idea, because it was actually a very busy day haha. But this is my actual blogoversary, so yayayay!

It's crazy that I have been blogging for a full year now, and 2015 is about to start in a week! I knew when I started this blog that I wanted it to stick and not just be a passing fancy, and I'm glad to say that it is most definitely here to stay. I have really enjoyed all the new people I have met because of blogging and book events and things like that. I've really met some awesome people and have done some really cool things this year all because of this!

So this is me saying thank you to you guys! Thank you for a wonderful year and friendships, amazing books, and all around awesome blogs! So I say, it's time to celebrate, complete with friends, a game, and awesome prizes/giveaways!

'Bout This Blogger Tag

Monday, December 8, 2014

So I don't know about you guys, but I have been following Cait from formerly The Notebook Sister now Paper Fury, for a long while now. She's hilarious and just an all around great person! Seriously, I swear we would be best buds if that thing called the ocean didn't separate our countries.  Anyway, in celebration of her move from Notebook Sisters to Paper Fury, she wanted to do a book tag and an awesome giveaway to go along with it, so here goes nothin'!

'Bout This Blogger:

1. Why did you start blogging?
Personally, I wanted to start blogging because I really like talking to people about bookish things. I only have like two or three IRL friends who love to read, so I really wanted to be a part of a community that took books seriously and love them just as deeply as I do and hoarded them in their multiple bookshelves (or sometimes in closets or on the floor, or just about anywhere you can store books).

2. What's the story behind your blog's name?
I LOVE glasses. I wear glasses (have worn them for most of my life now) and since to me it's a symbol of intelligence... but let's face it that's really weird considering a really unintelligent person could also need corrective lenses. But ya know, whatever! I think it kind of sums me up. Glasses and books. Yeah.

Liebster Award

Saturday, November 22, 2014
Thanks goes to The Review Court for nominating me for the Liebster Award!

The Liebster Award is targeted toward bloggers with less than 200 followers, in order for us to learn about each other and the book blogger world. I've seen this award going around, but I didn't know much about it until she nominated me!

As part of receiving the award, you are provided 11 questions by the one who nominated you. Here are my answers:

1. How long did you think about blogging before you made the leap?
I thought about blogging in general for about 5 years, and I started and ending a smattering of blogs during that time. It took me about a year to really think through starting a book blog though.

2. Do you have another blog or had another blog before?
Yeah, I had everything from a person blog that I updated like once in a blue moon, to a Xanga WAAAYYY back in the day. Half of your young bloggers probably don't even know what that is anymore lol.

Tag You're It!

Saturday, October 4, 2014
So most of you know that I am a terrible person. Because I hardly ever use GIFs. I really need to get better at it, so this should help me out a bit! I was tagged a few days ago by Reader, Writer, Critic, and now I'm finally getting around to doing it!

Rules: The person who tags you gives you 10 books for you to post a gif reaction to.  After you do that, you tag people that you want to see do it and give them 10 books to post their reaction too!

Luckily, Briana listed books that I read except for Splintered, so I will just post my favorite GIF for that one. :)

A Very Merry Unbirthday to the Notebook Sisters!

Sunday, May 25, 2014
This week The Notebook Sisters are celebrating their blogoversary (they are turning 3, you guys!) And as both of them love Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland, they are doing a themed week full of all things Lewis Carroll! You should pop on over and wish them a merry unbirthday and take part in all the giveaways and fun events they have going on!

Today's fun event is a Tea Party Questionnaire:

1. Just Alice: What book cover(s) has made you super curious?
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
No One Else Can Have You by Kathleen Hale

2. Mad Hatter: List the craziest character(s) you've ever read.
Dumbledore and Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter
Ferrin from A World Without Heroes by Brandon Mull
