Review: The Wicked We Have Done by Sarah Harian

Monday, March 17, 2014
Why I chose this book:
I saw a tweet about this from the author saying that this book would only be available on NetGalley for 24 hours. I decided I would give it a shot. The summary sounded intriguing, and it was part of the New Adult genre. This was my first dive into it, and I hope that this was just a bad representation. I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Evalyn Ibarra never expected to be an accused killer and experimental prison test subject. A year ago, she was a normal college student. Now she’s been sentenced to a month in the compass room—an advanced prison obstacle course designed by the government to execute justice.

If she survives, the world will know she’s innocent.

Locked up with nine notorious and potentially psychotic criminals, Evalyn must fight the prison and dismantle her past to stay alive. But the system prized for accuracy appears to be killing at random.

She doesn’t plan on making friends.

She doesn’t plan on falling in love, either. (Goodreads)

Why I chose this book:
Well, I can’t say that a single book was enough Dimitri for me. I needed more of this wonderful series and stat, and Frostbite did not leave me wanting. *Take note that if you have not read the first book, this review will be slightly spoiler-ish.

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price... (Goodreads)
