Synopsis:
This is a world divided by blood - red or silver.

The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change.

That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power.

Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime.

But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart... (Goodreads)

Why I chose this book:
Hello, have you seen this cover? A silver crown with blood dripping over the edges. It is gorgeous, addictive, and so stinking appealing. I totally judged this book by its cover, and I was not let down. Looking back, I see hoe the cover of the book is a symbol for a lot of the themes within the book. Well done, cover artist, well done. I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Synopsis:
Mare Barrow's world is divided by blood--those with common, Red blod serve the Silver-blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.

To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard--a growing Red rebellion--even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction. One wrong more can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal. (Goodreads)
